Take your practice to the next level with this comprehensive pelvic floor dry needling course! Learn anatomy, risk/benefits, and best practices
Take your pelvic floor rehabilitation practice to the next level with this comprehensive dry needling course! With step-by-step instruction on anatomy, risk/benefits assessment, and best practices for using dry needling, this course will give you the confidence and knowledge to help your clients achieve optimal health.
Assessing the Pelvic Floor
Assessing the pelvic floor prior to any treatment is essential in order to determine appropriate interventions. With dry needling of the pelvic floor, practitioners must be able to identify muscular tightness and trigger points, properly assess for risk factors, evaluate postural patterns, diagnose compensatory behaviors, and take note of referral pain patterns. This helps ensure that the most effective approach is taken to help clients on their path towards healing.
This Pelvic Floor Dry Needling Course provides participants with the knowledge necessary to have a comprehensive understanding of pelvic floor pain and dysfunction as well as offers strategies and techniques to effectively manage it. By teaching practitioners how to identify triggering points, assess risk factors, diagnose compensatory behaviors, properly evaluate postural patterns, and note referral pain patterns, they are better equipped to confidently provide a variety of treatments that work. This course empowers practitioners with the knowledge needed to restore the pelvic floor complex’s health and improve a client’s overall sensation experience when engaging in physical activity.
Participants will learn advanced techniques related to dry needling the pelvic floor, including respiratory and postural parasympathetic activation techniques. This course allows practitioners to refine their palpation technique, become proficient in patient interviewing, administer subjective pain assessment scales, and develop an individualized treatment plan for clients with pelvic floor dysfunction. In this course, practitioners receive hands-on experience through comprehensive lectures and workshops that combine state of the art needle placement strategies and functional muscle testing. This Pelvic Floor Dry Needling Course offers participants a unique opportunity to build upon their current skillset and gain knowledge on how to assess the pelvic floor complex in order to restore health.
During the workshop, participants with experience in dry needling will be able to practice their application of the needle, review their holistic assessment skills, and refresh themselves on functional testing evaluation strategies. Established therapists and those just beginning to explore the needling process alike are encouraged to join this course, designed to provide practitioners with all the necessary skills for safe and effective needling of this region. Through lectures that emphasize clinically relevant information and supervised lab sessions, practitioners can advance their knowledge base while improving clinical efficacy.
Primary topics of discussion include anatomy, postural assessment, regional palpation, muscles testing, and dry needling techniques. Lab instruction will focus on the specific role of manual therapy in improving tissue healing, mobility work to restore range of motion, motor control activities to optimize movement patterns and progress toward function, and when clinically indicated proper needle application. In addition to these didactic lectures and laboratory courses, participants will also have unique opportunities for networking with their peers as well as instructors leading the seminar.
This comprehensive pelvic floor dry needling course is designed for movement professionals, physical therapists, chiropractors, osteopaths and doctors. The primary goal is to increase the therapist’s ability to assess the patient with various movements and palpation techniques. Hands on lab sessions focus on manual therapy strategies to restore range of motion and optimize movement patterns as well as when clinically indicated proper needle application. The course provides information regarding anatomy of the pelvic floor, postural assessment, regional palpation and muscle testing prior to applying dry needling. Participant will also have valuable opportunities to exchange professional experiences related to proper diagnosis and treatment of patients suffering from dysfunctions associated with pelvic floor problems.
The course combines theoretical education with practical hands-on sessions to provide additional skills in the assessment, treatment and management of the pelvic floor. By developing a broad range of interventions, the participant will be able to provide comprehensive treatments plans that address the multitude of issues related to dysfunctions associated with pelvic floor problems. Through a variety of lectures, case discussions and lab sessions, participants gain knowledge and technical skills under the direct supervision of highly qualified trainers who will teach evidence-based practice protocol for successful clinical treatment outcomes.
Participants will learn to assess and treat the muscles of the pelvic floor through dry needling, a process that involves insertion of fine needles into tissue with the goal of breaking down adhesions and muscular tension. Practical session will include assessment of the seven Sacroiliac joint muscles, as well as visual and palpation assessments of the four layers of pelvic floor muscle and connective tissues. Participants will become proficient in proper needle placement for effective treatment strategies. Moreover, safety considerations regarding needling techniques, such as contraindications for each procedure, will be discussed.
Through a combination of lectures, demonstration, and hands-on practicums, participants will learn in-depth techniques for dry needling the muscles within the pelvic region. Participants will work on partners to practice various needle insertion techniques and to develop effective treatment protocols. The course will include discussion of needling technique safety as well as potential side effects and contraindications. Additionally, participants will learn to recognize common anatomical structures such as bony landmarks and fascia planes that may typically encountered while performing this procedure. By the end of the program, participants should be able to confidently assess, diagnose, and treat patients using these dry needling techniques within their scope of practice.
In order to successfully complete the pelvic floor dry needling course, participants will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in varying insertion depths and depths of needle stimulation during real-time patient assessments. Furthermore, participants will have the opportunity to watch demonstrations of this procedure on cadavers so that they can gain a better understanding of the anatomy involved. Through a combination of lectures, preceptorship, and practical cases, participants will develop the necessary skills to treat patients safely and effectively with dry needling within their practice setting.
